Jessica is currently an editorial intern at The Nation magazine. Her work has appeared in London's Peace News, Chicago's In Theses Times magazine and Ithaca's The Ithaca Voice and Ithaca Week. Jessica's full portfolio can be found at www.jessicacorbett.com.
Jessica recently graduated from Ithaca College with a B.A. in journalism and politics, and a concentration in international studies. She is most interested in reporting on diplomacy, humanitarian aid, justice issues and international development efforts, environmental issues and women's/gender issues.
At Ithaca College, Jessica held editorial positions at The Ithacan, an award-winning newspaper, and Buzzsaw magazine, the campus's leading alternative outlet. She also worked for Ithaca College Television's Newswatch 16 — the community's only local news show — and edited for the Park Scholar news feed and Media Alliance for People and the Planet.
Jessica is a member of the Park Scholar Program, a prestigious scholarship program that grants four-year full tuition awards to a small collection of students at Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communications. Scholars are selected for academic, leadership, media and community service achievements, and are expected to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher, as well as take on leadership roles in community service and media organizations.
In March 2013, Jessica traveled to Washington, D.C., to complete interviews and serve as an assistant producer for "Meet Me at Equality," a documentary about the March on Washington of 1963. The film aired on D.C.'s PBS affiliate in August 2013.
Beyond her professional life, Jessica is an avid reader and traveler. Her iTunes library is diverse and extensive. She is a passionate dancer and yogi — a health nut with a deep affinity for coffee and German chocolate cake.
